Dr Hassan : Wawancara BBC Bukti Anwar Perlu Ditolak

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 05:00 PM PST

Tutorial: How To Make a Reversible Laptop Sleeve

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 05:32 AM PST

I have always wanted to learn how to sew or at least learn to make my own stuff. As you know, the accessories for Apple products are generally EXPENSIVE. A simple laptop sleeve costs about RM100, so I decided to make my own.

I bought these fabrics at Nagoya and I'm never going back there. Why? The Chinese guy there are so stingy. I wanted canvas material, but the cloth was a bit dirty. Generally, textile stores will give you an additional 1/2 meter to compensate for the dirty part. This guy told me to go home and wash it. Fuck you man. So we walked away.

Anyway, I got the tiny polka dotted and some rough cotton. My advise, buy non-slippery fabric because you wouldn't want to let your laptop slips off your hand.

1. Cutting the fabric. I prefer mine snugged so it's a hard to slip off the sleeve. I left at least an inch for every side so it'll be easier for beginners like me to sew. (That's my wife's hand btw)

2. Sew a "U" shape for both fabric, except one, sew double "L" shape leaving holes at the bottom, so you can flip it once you're done.

3. Cut the edges so that it'll form a sharp corner.

4. Flip "U" shape so that the right side faces each other.

5. Slip the flipped one into the other.

6. Sew the end together. Make sure you don't overlap, otherwise you'll have to do all over again. I assure you that can be frustrating.

7. Remember the hole of the "L" shape? Carefully pull the inside fabric out.

8. The last part, sew the holes using the ladder stitch. (Such manly arm! Hahhaa)

9. Flip the inside out to make sure the reversible sleeve works.

Now it fits well into my bag along with my other red stuff. The possibility of getting a scratch from keys is reduced. Job well done.

The story begins last night, I got home at 12 am and told my sleepy wife, "I want to learn to sew a laptop sleeve". She helped me through the process and showed me how to operate a sewing machine. The rest was history. I made one complete sleeve in one hour. Not bad for a noob eh?

If you feel cheated by Apple or any other laptop accessories, share this post, we all might benefit from a thing or two ;)

RAJA NONG CHIK – STOP YOUR DAY DREAMING!

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 05:18 AM PST

I was with a group of retirees sharing their normal tea tarik session this morning at Putrajaya. And being retirees what else could we be talking about other than about our children, grandchildren and most of all, what need to be done to keep our mind and body healthy. And being retirees, this does not mean that we do not keep abreast with all that is happening in the country today. On the contrary, our level of awareness has peaked up and we are more concern now about what is happening to the country today, than during the time when we were all working. The reason is simply that time is now at our pleasure to read and to reason out, and to be able to make a comparison with all that we see happening to the country today, with that of the past.

They all having to know that I am a blogger had asked me to comment on the recent statement made by FT Minister Raja Nong Chik that the Chinese community at Lembah Pantai are beginning to be drawn towards the BN. I said, "Yes, I am aware of that statement by Raja Nong Chik, but I believe he must be day dreaming when he uttered that statement". I do not know on what basis of facts was used by the minister to come out with such a statement. If it was Shahrizat to have said that, then I do have some reason to believe it. But having to come from Raja Nong Chik who is virtually a 'novice' in the Lembah Pantai constituency is hard for me to believe. Is it because after handing over hampers and 'ang pow' to some 400 odd elderly Chinese, and presumably after having a quick brief by the MCA representatives is enough to convince Raja Nong Chick that the Chinese at Lembah Pantai will vote for the BN this time around?

Now, let me say this to Raja Nong Chik and to his MCA 'advisors' – once again, please stop your day dreaming. The reason I say this is firstly, Raja Nong Chik isn't an elected representative and he became a minister through the 'rear door'. They should know that the Lembah Pantai voters are not the kampung type where they can be easily manipulated once a year with hampers and 'ang pows'. You give, they take and after all, the money for the hampers and 'ang pows' does not come from their personal pockets. If the money is from the allocation provided by the government, then it is public money and for this, the entire elderly Chinese community throughout the country deserves the same gift of hampers and 'ang pows'.

Secondly, Lembah Pantai constituents are of the middle and higher income group; hence they are not illiterates; rather they are a learned lot. They are fully aware of what is going on to the country today, and can differentiate lies from truth; rhetoric or otherwise. When even the super mama Shahrizat Jalil could be trounced by a virtually unknown Nurul Izzah in the last elections, this time who is Raja Nong Chik to take on the jewel of PKR Nurul Izzah. Does he not know that Nurul Izzah has got much stronger and more popular today? Just walk the streets at the Lembah Pantai constituency and one can sense her popularity. And even if BN were to use the usual money tactics to buy votes, they can be terribly mistaken this time? Was it not the popular former Tourism Minister Tan Sri Kadir Sheikh Fadzir who said that money (lots of it) was used to buy votes in previous elections? Of course the voters will take the money handed to them, but this does not guarantee the electorates will vote for the BN candidate – not now.

Thirdly, Lembah Pantai has a large number of young voters and there is no denying that this time around, it is the young voters that will make that critical decision as to which party will be chosen to govern the country. We have seen how the youth (especially university/college students) have daringly come forward to make their voices heard at public forums, in direct challenge to the rulings imposed by the government. This new form of public opinion and awareness is unheard off before. There is the obvious realization that their voices can no longer be subdued by archaic government rulings, and that they want to have a role in the political, economic and social development of the country; especially that affecting their life as matured university students. They no longer want to be cocooned to the academic trap, and to be seen as school children; to be told what can be done and what cannot be done.

Finally, if someone were to ask me this question,"Where then should Raja Nong Chik contest, given that PM Najib thinks he is a winnable candidate and wants to still make him a minister; this time through the 'front door'? My answer would be this – "Dump Tengku (?) Adnan out of Putrajaya and bring in Raja Nong Chik". I think Tengku (?) Adnan has had enough as a minister. Let's see if PM Najib takes this bite.

Lagi Kejayaan DAP,Hapus Miskin Tegar!?

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 05:06 AM PST

Begitulah double standartnya kerajaan regim DAP.

Penerima tetap miskin, cuma bermodalkan RM100 takrifan "tegar" berjaya ditarik keluar.

Another take on NFC

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 05:09 PM PST

If not for arrogance and penchant for luxury, NFC could have escaped the radar of the critics.

Instead of buying luxury condominiums in Bangsar and Singapore, the directors should have bought large tracts of land which would serve their primary purpose of breeding cattle. Had they bought land instead, they would have benefited from substantial appreciation in value.

Even with my simple mind, I can think of tracts of land divided into individual farms which could be rented out to individual farmers, on condition that they rear only cattle. Just imagine the image to any outsider who does not bother to check out the real deal. Or...

Instead of the reduced number of cattle from 8,000 to below 6,000 heads, they could have bought more cattle which could have given a favourable impression that they were doing the right thing. For say, Rm30 million, they could have bought 30,000 heads of cattle at Rm1,000 each, or 10,000 at Rm3,000 each, depending on the current price. I bet substantial increase in number would have silenced some critics, after all we are dealing with public perception.

Hypothetically, having a soft loan at 2% pa interest, the directors could have just borrowed from the government and put in FD at a conservative 3% pa, and enjoy a yearly Rm2.5 million in net income without doing anything. If a claim that the loan repayment does not set in until the full Rm250 million has been disbursed, then borrowing Rm249 million (just short of 1 million), they could have almost Rm7.5 million yearly! Enough for decent company cars and directors' remuneration. Just to show how ludicrous government aid could be easily abused if not properly monitored.

Recent statements by PM and other ministers did not make sense. What people expect from 'assets are frozen' is when bank accounts are frozen and directors effectively suspended from their positions and duties while the company is being run by someone appointed by the government and investigations are being carried out. But according to NFC official, it is 'business as usual' and the only thing frozen is probably the beef!

The NFC case has caught the attention of many people because of its ease at getting a large amount of soft loan at incredibly favourable terms, which was misused to pay overgenerous directors' remuneration, buy luxury car and condominiums. NFC has caused envy among fellow Malaysians. No doubt it is likely to be a liability to BN and a good point to use by PR in the coming general election. If the directors' rationale for buying condominiums is good investments, then everyone of us would like the government to lend us the money to do so.

By the way, the following could be a true story which shows financial returns from investment in property could be so rewarding. Maybe the directors of NFC were wise in this sense, but not when it involved public funds meant for a specific venture...

A Singapore millionaire, LKA, secretly maintained a mistress in Hong Kong, bought a posh sea view apartment(in his own name) for her to live in, plus gave her a monthly allowance of US$5,000. The house cost him about US$700,000 in 2005. The affair lasted for 5 years.

He sold the house this year for $3.8 million, after they broke up. A quick calculation shows that after 5 years of a fling with the woman, he still had a net gain of $2.8 million plus six years of FREE SEX.

When his wife found out about this, he offers the $2.8 million to her. But she was still not happy ..., and she was very mad at him and gave him a big mouthful... She yelled at him at the top of her voice and said... "BLOODY IDIOT, STUPID FOOL" !!! ... Why the hell didn't you keep TWO MISTRESSES !!!!

Love your country Vote wisely

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 01:12 AM PST

Malaysians must start to LOVE the right thing and in the right way. My earlier posting Love is a dangerous game to play with! highlights generally about love between two sexes and how it can be good or it can hurt as well.

Love - A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person.

Patriotic - Feeling, expressing, or inspired by love for one's country.

Over the decades of propaganda by the ruling regime, the people are inclined to think that only by loving the ruling government will they be recognised as patriotic that love the country. A misconception of loving the government first and nation second.

The second misconception by the regime after having ruled for over five decades begins to think and act like the nation wealth belongs only to them and the rakyat are their servants to toil with.

The third misconception is the ruling regime demand that the rakyat must be appreciative and grateful of what the government is doing.

These misconceptions must be promptly eradicated from the rakyat's mind or else the future of this nation will be in ruin.

There can be no love for a ruling government but only categorized as, good, poor or bad governance. The rakyat need not be appreciative or be grateful to the government for what they are doing, for better or worst, as they are elected and paid for to do their jobs of running the nation.

This nation can and will only be bankrupted or destroyed by those holding the power and not the rakyat. Patriotism cannot be questioned by the ruling government for covering up their wrong doings when rakyat woke up and protested against them.

GE 13 is just round the corner and voters must start grading the performances of umno/bn rule for the past five decades. Leave love and patriotism aside as they cannot be used to gauge the performances of the government. You can love and like PM Najib but put that as personal. The scrutiny must be deep rooted into the overall long term results that will benefit the country and rakyat and not short term or ad hoc give away, once every five years.

This coming GE, voters must be very attentive of who they are going to vote in to form the next government. They must ask a lot of questions and find the answers themselves, for example, why giving out a one time off RM500 cash to those earning 3K and below now. Why not look into a long term solution for those earning 3k and less, ensuring high purchasing power from the 3k. Can they own a home, a kanchil & regular meals for a family of four with the 3k?

They said, what goes up must come down but I do not see the truth in the prices of consumer goods nor the corruption index and what is the ruling government going to do about it?

If you are patriotic and love your country, you must make the right choice by voting in a credible, competence and clean government with integrity that treated all Malaysians as equal and with respect. Failing to do so will see the nation that you love and being patriotic about in ruin.

Ketua Menteri Cedera Di Tampar Blogger

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 12:00 AM PST

Seorang blogger telah bertindak melampaui batas apabila menampar ketua menteri kesayangan rakyat secara terang terangan.

Jebat bukan saja menyebabkan Guan Eng mengalami sesak nafas malah menyebabkan seluruh unit komunikasi CM gagal sama sekali untuk menyelamatkan KEJAYAAN regim DAP.

Barisan blogger berjaya membuktikan terlalu banyak pembohongan yang dilakukan oleh Lim Guan Eng.Pembohongan demi pembohongan berjaya dibuktikan.

Delusional Lim Guan Eng is lying again!

This news caught my eye. It seems that Lim Guan Eng is back to his lying ways. It seems Lim Guan Eng will never stop lying in order to make himself look good. This is pitiful and not to mention pathetic.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 — Massive borrowing and irresponsible spending by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government will result in Malaysia becoming a fully indebted nation before the end of the decade, Lim Guan Eng said today.

The Penang chief minister said that Putrajaya's debt to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio has increased yearly from 53.1 per cent in 2010 to 53.8 per cent last year and is expected to hit 54.8 per cent this year.

Lim's remarks are in response to a statement by Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) distinguished fellow Mohd Ariff Abdul Kareem, who warned that federal government revenue was growing too slowly to keep up with its borrowings which hit 53.1 per cent of GDP in 2010.

Mohd Ariff told The Malaysian Insider recently that Malaysia's national debt will hit 100 per cent of the GDP by 2019 should Putrajaya continue to borrow more than it earns. He said while the current size of government debt relative to GDP was not troubling, the pace of its growth in recent years was cause for concern.

Lim added that a stagnation in salaries, coupled with increased prices for basic commodities such as sugar, eggs, and bread, will further result in Malaysians becoming even more debt-laden.

The Bagan MP said that MIER's projections that Malaysia could end up becoming bankrupt by 2019 showed the need for new federal government, one that should be led by Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

He said that PR has successfully "managed" finances in states such as Penang.

"Penang managed to reduce (its) state debt from RM630 million in March 8, 2008 to only RM30 million as at end of October 2011. This represents a debt reduction of 95 per cent, or RM600 million, which is the highest debt reduction of any state in Malaysia's history.

"Clearly, Malaysians who wish to have a better life for themselves and their future generations must make a choice between a government that is spendthrift and that borrows irresponsibly without being able to make the pie grow bigger, or a government that is prudent and transparent that will put the concerns of the rakyat first," Lim added.

Even that so called fellow from MIER do not know what he is talking about. This blog and fellow bloggers SatD and economist HishamH had time and time again exposed Lim Guan Eng and his tendency to lie outright to the public.

Ooops! Caught lying again..

In Lim 'The Empty Can' Guan Eng, we had already exposed the fact that the debt of Penang was lessened not due to his remarkable leadership but because Federal Givernment had taken over the RM600 million debt from Penang and graciously change its status into a 45 year grant. That is how it became RM30 million. Down 95%.

It is not rocket science. Instead of thanking the Federal Government, this so called accountant turned chief minister had the audacity to chastise them further.

He even got it wrong on Bernas a few days ago! How many times do you want to lie Guan Eng?

As for all the mumbo jumbo dished out by that MIER fellow, his arguments has been pre-empted, dissected and crushed by HishamH in his FAQ on National Debt.

You can read them here, here and here. It is a three part series.

I WISH ALL OPPOSITION LEADERS AND THEIR SYCOPHANTS TO REALLY KNOW YOUR FINANCES AND ECONOMICS STUDIES BEFORE OPENING THEIR MOUTHS.

We surely do not want another simple case of not knowing how to calculate an average of inflation rate.

Thank you.

P.S. To understand Lim Guan Eng and his lying ways, please read them here.

Sokongan mengusik jiwa

Posted: 16 Jan 2012 12:36 AM PST

Salam.

'Never the twain shall meet'

According to Wikipedia:

'The Ballad of East and West' is a poem by Rudyard Kipling. It was first published in 1889, and has been much collected and anthologised since. Its first line is often quoted, sometimes as an example of Kipling's attitudes to race and to the Empire; but those who quote it thus often completely miss the third and fourth lines. It is worth quoting the refrain which opens, and closes, the poem in full:

Oh, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God's great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!

This may be read as saying that 'it is indisputable that geographic points of the compass will never meet in this life, but that when two strong men [or equals] meet, the accidents of birth, whether of nationality, race, or family, do not matter at all - the Asian and the European are equals'.

According to dictionary.reference.com:

'The culture of the West ( Europe and the Americas) will always be very different from that of the East ( Asia). ( Twain means "two.") This saying is part of the refrain of "The Ballad of East and West," a poem by Rudyard Kipling.'

As an English literature dropout, I was reminded of the quote when I first saw these two pictures showing meetings of contrasts:

Skagden, Denmark, where Baltic Sea and North Sea meet...

Favelas of Brazil: contrast poverty with wealth...

Guan Eng Hapuskan Tol Sg Nyior,Satu Kejayaan DAP

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 10:00 PM PST

Lim Guan Eng,ketua menteri paling celaka dalam sejarah regim DAP Pulau Pinang TELAH menghapuskan tol Sg Nyior.Berkuat kuasa sebentar tadi jam 10 pagi.

Kalau korang tak percaya cakap Pisau cuba pi tengok tol Sg Nyior kena bayaq lima kupang ka tak?

Pisau kata " unit komunikasi CM,make sure print ini artikel kasi CM baca..geng umno jangan marah aaa...hehe"

Anwar Semakin Tidak Di Percayai.

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 08:16 PM PST

ANWAR IBRAHIM - PANDANGAN MAJALAH THE ECONOMIST, 14 JAN 2012
- The Economist, 14 Jan 2012

Pisau kata "pkr, pas dan dap sebuah konsortium syarikat anak beranak dan kroni"
